Sears Customer Name and Address Change Policies

When Sears Home Warranty enrollment records are provided to CHS, the name and/or address on certain contracts may be incorrect. In order for warranty holders to be able to make claim decisions and request other transactions, updates must be made to reflect the proper information.

Name Change Correction Procedure - Sears Home Warranty Set Up With Incorrect Name

Customers enrolled in a Sears Home Warranty are able to change the name on a record in the following circumstance:

  1.  If a caller states that he/she enrolled in the Sears Home Warranty but the person(s) listed on it is someone else, like a previous owner of the property, deceased relative, ex-spouse or sibling, change the name if the caller can verify the following:
    1. Property address
    2. Plan type and price (example: Appliance Plan @$39.99 per month)
    3. Credit card type and last 4 digits of credit card used for payment (example: Amex card ending in 1234)

Once the name is corrected, the actual warranty holder can take action (add another household member, place a claim/make a claim decision, cancel, etc.)

A written request and accompanying death certificate are no longer required when the existing customer on the contract is deceased

Address Correction Procedure

Customers who enroll in a Sears Home Warranty are able to change the address on a record in the following circumstance:

  1. If the customer states that the address on a Sears Home Warranty record is incorrect, it can be corrected provided that:
    1. The incorrect address was the result of an enrollment error and there is no indication of another reason for it
    2. There have been no claims placed on the warranty

Seek assistance from your Supervisor or a member of Management if you have any questions or need help to make these changes.

  1. An address cannot be changed if the customer states they moved or sold the property
  1. We must contact Paid call to verify the address provided at enrollment
